2 Teens Held On Bail In Stabbing Of Unlicensed Taxi Driver
CHELSEA (CBS) -- Two Chelsea teens were arraigned Monday after police said they stabbed an unlicensed taxi driver who was giving them a ride Sunday night.
According to police, the dispute was over a fare.
One of the boys, aged 15, was ordered held on $25,000 bail Monday afternoon. He had a previous open case in Lawrence juvenile court, in which his bail was revoked.
The other boy, aged 17, was ordered held on $10,000 bail.
Police said a taxi, one without markings or decals, was called for the two boys around 6:45 p.m. Sunday.
They said the 57-year-old East Boston driver took them to a GameStop, then to Congress Avenue, where the driver was slashed in the neck.
He was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital with serious injuries, but is expected to be okay.
The two boys were found nearby and identified by witnesses. Police also found the box cutter they say was used in the attack.
The teens were taken into custody and interviewed along with their parents, but because of their age, no further information is being released about them.
They are due back in court on September 22.
