Chelsea Shooting Victims Identified
CHELSEA (CBS) – The names of the two people killed early Saturday morning in unrelated Chelsea shootings were released Monday as investigators continue to search for suspects in both cases.
Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel Conley and Chelsea Police Chief Brian Kyes said on Monday that they are renewing their call for help from the public in the two shootings.
On Saturday at about 12:05 a.m., police said Catherine Gomez, 35, was inside a Shawmut Street apartment when she heard a commotion on the street, came to the window and was killed by a stray bullet that investigators do not believe was aimed at her.
Massachusetts State Police released a surveillance photo that shows two people that may have information related to the fatal shooting.
Just over an hour after Gomez was killed, a second shooting was reported, this one at the French Naturalization Club.
Juan Rodriguez, 36, of Lynn, was shot during an altercation at the Spencer Ave. club. He was rushed to Massachusetts General Hospital, but was pronounced dead.
Anyone with information on either shooting is asked to call Chelsea detectives at (617) 466-4843 or the Suffolk County state police detective unit at (617) 727-8817. Callers wishing to remain anonymous can contact the Chelsea Police CrimeStoppers tip line at (617) 466-4880.
