Charter Boat Sinks Off East Boston
BOSTON (CBS) --- An 85-foot charter boat docked in Boston Harbor for the past year, sank Sunday afternoon.
Boston Police say the Virginia Sea 2 began taking on water Sunday afternoon and slipped below the waterline off Border Street in East Boston.
Investigators were on scene Sunday afternoon to determine whether there are any environmental impacts.
The owner of the boat reportedly arrived on scene to try to help. No one was on board when it sank.
The Coast Guard says the boat was a commercial boat until 2011 and has been abandoned at a pier since then.
The Coast Guard is investigating whether charges will be filed against the boat's owner.
