Charlestown Lawyer Charged With Kidnapping 12-Year-Old Girl
LANCASTER (CBS) - A Charlestown lawyer has been charged with kidnapping a 12-year-old Lancaster girl.
Robert D. Smith, 38, is facing kidnapping and enticement of a child charges, according to the Worcester County District Attorney's office, which announced the charges Friday.
He was arrested last weekend following an investigation into the disappearance of the girl, who was later found and returned to her family.
Smith was released on $10,000 bail on Monday after his arraignment in Clinton District Court.
The judge ordered Smith to be under house arrest with a GPS monitor except for court, attorney and doctor visits.
He was also told to stay off the Internet, have no contact with children under the age of 16 (except for his three children) and have no contact with the victim.
Smith allegedly made first contact with the child via the Internet.
He is due back in court April 13.
