Celtics Waive Keyon Dooling
BOSTON (CBS) -- With just a couple of weeks remaining before training camp begins, the Celtics have dropped Keyon Dooling from their roster.
The team announced it waived Dooling from the roster on Thursday evening.
"Keyon has decided that he has given the NBA twelve good years and that it's time to pursue other interests and spend more time with his family," Kenge Stevenson, Dooling's representative, announced in a statement. "He will never forget his time in Boston with the Celtics."
Dooling, 32, spent just one season with the Celtics, averaging four points and 1.1 assists in his 14.4 minutes per game in 46 regular-season contests. In the postseason, he contributed with two 10-point games off the bench, one against Atlanta and one against Miami. He shot 39.3 percent from 3-point range in the playoffs.
"We'll miss Keyon's spirit and energy, both on and off the court," Danny Ainge said in the statement. "The whole Celtics family wishes him well as he enters the next phase of his life."
