Celtics Set Roster For NBA Summer League

BOSTON (CBS) – For those that cannot wait for the 2012-13 NBA season, next week will offer a little bit of a preview.

Sure it will be mostly rookies and players fighting for a roster spot, but Boston Celtics fans can check out their newest members starting Monday in Orlando. The following week, Boston will return to the Vegas summer league for the first time since 2007.

The Celtics will play 10 games over the next two weeks in Orlando and Las Vegas, giving fans a preview of 2012 draft picks Jared Sullinger, Fab Melo and Kris Joseph. Last year's picks JaJuan Johnson and E'Twaun Moore will also play, along with Sean Williams and Stephane Lasme.

The former BC Eagle Williams joined the Celtics late in the 2012 season, playing in three games. The UMass product Lasme was one of the final cuts prior to the regular season. Originally a second-round pick in 2010, Lasme was a member of the C's Maine Red Claws in 2010 before suffering a foot injury two minutes into their season opener.

While the stats that come out of these games will mean little, it is important for players like Joseph who does not have a guaranteed contract for next season.
