Celtics' Rondo Suspended For Monday Night's Game Against Knicks
BOSTON (CBS) - The Boston Celtics will once again be without point guard Rajon Rondo due to a suspension.
Rondo has been suspended for Monday night's game against the Knicks for bumping into an official in the Celtics' 89-81 win over the Hawks in Atlanta on Saturday night, and failing to cooperate with the league in their investigation.
Rondo was whistled for an offensive foul in the third quarter and made contact with the official following the play.
The suspension will leave the Celtics shorthanded for their Atlantic Division showdown with the Knicks. Courtney Lee or Jason Terry will likely get the start alongside Avery Bradley in the C's back court.
For Rondo, this is his third suspension in less than a year, and second to come out of Atlanta. The Celtics point guard was suspended during the playoffs last season for bumping into an official during the Celtics playoff series against the Hawks last season.
Rondo was suspended for two games earlier in the season for his role in a fight against the Brooklyn Nets.
