Celtics Put On Show For Elementary School
The students at Winthrop Elementary School in Dorchester got a special treat Thursday morning.
The Celtics Paul Pierce and Delonte West, along with the help of some lucky students, put on "The True Story of the Three Little Pigs" as part of the NBA's Read to Achieve program.

Turns out the Big Bad Wolf, Pierce, was not so bad after all. All he needed was a cup of sugar to make a birthday cake for his granny. Pierce donned a wolf mask when he took the stage but removed it for the play. It would have been hard to hear the Celtics captain under with all that fur.
The audience cheered and laughed the entire morning. The only grumbles came when West said "math" his favorite subject in school. They also did not appreciate when Principal Walter Henderson joked they would have extra homework because of the assembly.
There was a deeper meaning to today's event, not just seeing Pierce blow down the little pig's houses. After the play the two Celtics sat on stage and discussed their own days in elementary school, stressing the importance of reading. Pierce said he reads one or two books a night to his two-year-old daughter, Prianna Lee.
"College is a long ways away but it starts now," Pierce explained.
The two also talked about the advice they received when they were younger that helped shape them into who they are today.
"Never stop dreaming," West told the eager students. "Your dreams and goals, you have to go after them."
"My mom always said I could do anything I put my mind to," Pierce added. "You can do anything in life if you put your mind to it and focus."
