Celtics Pierce Will Have MRI Monday

BOSTON (CBS) - After going without a field goal against the Miami Heat on Sunday, Celtics captain Paul Pierce will have an MRI on his left ankle on Monday.

Pierce told reporters after Sunday's game he is battling multiple injuries, including the bad ankle and a sprained right hand.

"I sprained my hand (Saturday) in practice, and it got hit (today)" Pierce said after the 85-82 win over the Heat. "I've got to get my foot checked out (Monday). Get an MRI on it and go from there."

Pierce said he suffered the foot injury last week. He attributed his 0-for-10 shooting on Sunday to the injuries, but also said he focused more on defending Lebron James than his struggling offense. It's only the fourth time in his career Pierce has been held without a basket.

Celtics Captain Paul Pierce Talks About His Injuries

Pierce joins an ever-growing list of injured Celtics. Backup forward Marquis Daniels is out at least one month with a bruised spine. The Celtics have three injured centers in Shaquille O'Neal, Semih Erden, and Jermaine O'Neal.

Injured guard Delonte West could return from a broken hand as early as Wednesday night when the Celtics host the New Jersey Nets, the team's final game before the All-Star break.
