Celtics' Perkins Hurts Knee

BOSTON (CBS) - Celtics' center Kendrick Perkins will have his left knee reevaluated on Wednesday after bruising it during Tuesday night's 115-93 win over the Golden State Warriors.

Perkins banged knees with Golden State's David Lee early in the second half and did not return. He stayed on the bench with a wrap over the knee, but could be seen moving over.

"It's hard sitting on the sideline," Perkins said after the game. "I've been sitting on the sideline for sixth months. I'm not trying to waste no time, but I knew it just wasn't feel right. Just a little nagging pain."

It appears the Celtics were being cautious with their starting center, since Shaquille O'Neal and Jermaine O'Neal are already out due to injury.

"Doc told me 'Don't try to be a hero,'" Perkins said. "I wanted to go back out there, it started feeling good. But at the end of the day, it's just a minor setback so it's all good."

This is not the same knee that required offseason ACL surgery. Perkins returned January 25 against the Cleveland Cavaliers just seven months after undergoing the surgery.

The injury does not look serious, but Perkins could miss a game or two as the Celtics err on the side of caution.
