Celtics Get First Look At Carmelo-Led Knicks
BOSTON (CBS) - With the Knicks losing 100-95 to the Milwaukee Bucks Sunday night, the Celtics clinched their fourth straight Atlantic Division.
The Celtics will try to take advantage of the recent woes of the Knicks Monday night when the two teams clash for the first time since New York acquired forward Carmelo Anthony.
Boston is coming off one of their best wins in the past few weeks, an 89-85 come-from-behind victory over the New Orleans Hornets Saturday night. The Celtics defense held the Hornets to just 34 points in the second half and got huge contributions off the bench with Jeff Green, Delonte West and Glen Davis combining for 39 points.
After opening their three-game road trip with a dismal 93-77 loss to the Houston Rockets, the Celtics can finish the trip 2-1 with a win in New York.
The Knicks have won just one of their last six games after falling to the Bucks Sunday night and are just 7-8 since Carmelo Anthony came aboard in a blockbuster trade. New York sits in the seventh spot in the Eastern Conference, which would set them up for a first-round meeting with the Celtics or Bulls in the playoffs.
Boston and Chicago are currently tied atop the Eastern Conference at 49-19.
