Celtics Finalize 2014-15 Roster
BOSTON (CBS) -- The Boston Celtics waived six players on Monday to finalize their opening night roster for the 2014-15 season.
Boston waived guards Will Bynum, Tim Frazier and Rodney McGruder, forwards Erik Murphy and Christian Watford, and guard/forward Jarell Eddie to trim their roster to 15 players.
Here's a quick roster breakdown for Boston:
Point Guards
Rajon Rondo
Marcus Smart
Phil Pressey
Shooting Guards
Avery Bradley
Evan Turner
Marcus Thornton
Small Forward
Jeff Green
Gerald Wallace
James Young
Power Forward
Jared Sullinger
Brandon Bass
Dwight Powell
Center
Kelly Olynyk
Tyler Zeller
Vitor Faverani
With Monday's moves, the Celtics will enter the season roughly $2 million under the luxury tax threshold.
It remains unclear if Rajon Rondo will be ready to go for Wednesday's season opener against the Brooklyn Nets at the TD Garden (Rondo said there was a 79% chance of him playing on Monday), but if he cannot go rookie Marcus Smart will get the start at point guard.
With Rondo or Smart leading the way at point, Avery Bradley, Jeff Green, Jared Sullinger and Kelly Olynyk would likely round out Boston's opening night starting lineup.
