No Shining Moment For Brad Stevens
BOSTON (CBS) -- The NCAA is changing things up with "One Shining Moment" this year, which has sparked outrage and debate around the sports world.
Zolak & Bertrand discussed the change on Wednesday, and are both outraged that Luther Vandross' rendition of the classic is being replaced (take a listen here).
They asked Celtics head coach Brad Stevens about the change Wednesday afternoon, only to find out that after his Butler Bulldogs lost in back-to-back NCAA title games in 2011 and 2012, Stevens still has a tough time watching the postgame tradition.
"In all sincerity, the whole song and postgame review have been ruined since we lost twice in that game. I can't watch any of the festivities after the champion is crowned because, to be quite candid, I can't stomach it," said Stevens. "It is kind of sad, because when I was a kid I watched it over and over and over and paused it when I saw my favorite players and teams. Even when I was at Butler and we got beat in the Sweet 16 you'd stay up to watch to see how many clips of Butler there was, maybe use it as a recruiting tool. But after you go to the final twice and get beat twice, that song gets diminished. Trust me."
Stevens also talked about the play of Celtics rookie Terry Rozier, the struggles of Marcus Smart and the return of Jae Crowder:
