Celtics At 7: Is Jeff Green A Player You Can Build Around?
BOSTON (CBS) - 98.5 The Sports Hub is the new radio home of the Boston Celtics, so at 7pm the Adam Jones Show will be bringing you a nightly feature talking all things Green Team.
Wednesday night's discussion started with a coaching decision by Brad Stevens.
It was announced before the game against the San Antonio Spurs that Kelly Olynyk and Jared Sullinger would be replacing Brandon Bass and Vitor Faverani in the starting lineup.
Adam Jones wants to know...why?

"I get that Sullinger has been one of the brighter spots for the Celtics in the early going here, but that's odd," said a critical Adam Jones. "Brandon Bass has been a quality player at both ends of the floor, and defensively he's a guy that typically excels. I think this is a game you'd want him out there."
Now that point would prove to be moot after the game, a contest in which Jared Sullinger scored 19 points and pulled down 17 rebounds.
However, the point remains that Brad Stevens, as prepared and as analytical as he is, is still trying to see what he has with this team 13 games into the regular season.
"We know Brad Stevens is very stats-based, and I think he's trying to figure out his lineups," said Rich Keefe. "He's still unsure of who to go with."
Then the conversation shifted to the lightning rod that is Jeff Green.
Many Celtics fans are still reeling from that deadline deal in 2011 that sent enforcer Kendrick Perkins packing to Oklahoma City in exchange for Green, and have been unimpressed with the inconsistent forward so far in his Celtics tenure.
Gorman: Celtics On A Very 'Slippery Slope'
Adam Jones and Rich Keefe broke down the role of Jeff Green going forward and if he could be used as a trade piece.
"Jeff Green has been awful this season. He's not aggressive, he hasn't played well," said Jones. "I think the key question for the Celtics and what they need to be evaluating is, 'Is this a guy we can build around?'"
Adam Jones and Rich Keefe both have the same answer for that question, and the answer is a resounding NO.
Jeff Green is not physical enough to go down low, get rebounds and play the power forward position, and at the same time he's not aggressive enough to be the swingman and score points.
Over the past two games Jeff Green has only taken 13 shots...Thirteen shots and he's your team's leading scorer!
Brad Stevens has acknowledged that they're trying to get him going offensively, but for whatever reason it's just not working.
