Ainge: 'No News' On Kevin Garnett
BOSTON (CBS) - Despite what you may have read over, and over, and over again on Twitter late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning, Kevin Garnett has not retired.
"No news to report. We're having conversations with Kevin but nothing yet," Celtics president of Basketball Ops. Danny Ainge said at a pre-draft availability Wednesday morning.
With the NBA Draft a day away, the Celtics sit and await Garnett's decision, which will have a domino effect on the rest of the franchise. His choice will dictate if the C's go for another NBA title next season, or enter into a rebuilding phase.

Ainge is not sure if Garnett will return to the team or retire, but he is expecting an answer before July 1 when NBA free agency begins.
"We're having a conversation with Kevin, but we don't have any answers on whether he's coming back or not," Ainge said. "I'll know that by July 1. I'll be in communication with him and I'll have some sort of read on that and a better feel."

Ainge does not expect Garnett to seek employment elsewhere, and will not rush the future Hall of Famer into making a choice.
"There's no deadline with Kevin," he said. "Kevin's the only free agent we have that we can talk to now. We don't have to wait until July 1 because he's eligible for an extension, but the rest of the players we have to wait until July 1."
