CDC: Flu In Mass. 'Widespread'
ATLANTA (CBS) -- The CDC says flu is now widespread in Massachusetts.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issues a weekly report of where flu is reported. In the week ending January 15, Massachusetts was listed as "widespread."
It and Connecticut are the only two New England states in the category. New Hampshire and Vermont are listed as "regional," Rhode Island is "local," and Maine is "sporadic."
In February 2010, the CDC changed its recommendations to everyone six months and older receive a flu vaccine.
Also this year the CDC says there is only one vaccine being made, and it will protect against the 2009 H1N1 virus and two other influenza viruses.
