CBS Teams Up With The Red Cross To Help Hurricane Victims
BOSTON (CBS) - Thousands in New York and New Jersey are in dire need of basic things like food and shelter.
CBS is teaming up with the Red Cross to help the victims of Hurricane Sandy who are still in the dark.

Volunteers in Cambridge are packing up and heading to New York.
Jarrett Barrios is the Eastern Mass. Red Cross CEO. He says this is the largest response since Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
"There were tens of thousands of people dislocated from there homes," says Barrios. "We still have 8,700 people in shelters over a week after the storm."
Since Sandy struck, the Red Cross has served more than 300,000 meals and donations are to thank.
CBS Radio and Television are teaming up with the Red Cross to support the effort.

Starting at 6 a.m. Friday morning, you can drop off cash or checks around the area.
WBZ-TV's Sera Congi will be at the rest stop on Route 128 South in Newton and radio personalities will be stationed at City Hall Plaza and the Dunkin Donuts on Market Street in Brighton.
You can stop by until 6 p.m. Friday night.
Barrios says, "We are going to keep doing this work and hopefully folks will support our efforts as we try to help take car of our fellow Americans."
The Red Cross says every dollar will help.
