Carver Men Indicted For Theft Of $150K Of Construction Equipment
BOSTON (CBS) – Two Carver men have been indicted for allegedly stealing more than $150,000 worth of construction and landscaping equipment from Massachusetts and neighboring states.
Robert Amado, 42, is charged with 10 counts of larceny over $250 and two counts of witness intimidation. Christopher Bromley, 31, faces eight counts of larceny over $250.
Both face twenty-year maximum sentences if convicted.
"We allege that these defendants are responsible for numerous thefts of heavy, expensive pieces of equipment across the region," Attorney General Martha Coakley said in a news release.
The two men would allegedly drive hundreds of miles to stake our areas before returning later to steal the equipment.
Police say snowplows, excavators, and tractors were taken from Hopedale, Harwich, and Woburn in Massachusetts, and as far away as Clifton Park, New York and Berwick, Maine.
