Carl Stevens' Journal: A Poem From A Boston Snob
BOSTON (CBS) - Boston is ranked third as "America's Snobbiest City," according to Travel and Leisure Magazine.
Here's a poem to clarify why:
You think I'm snobby? I don't really care.
I've got my own life to live, so there.
You think I'm aloof and somewhat elusive?
I just don't have time to be all-inclusive.
As I try to put the puzzle of life together, I don't want to chat about the weather, to happily recognize hundreds of faces, to hear about your kid's new braces.
Does that make me snobby, unfriendly, unkind?
I'm sorry, I just don't have the time.
There are bills to pay and work to be done, only so many hours beneath each day's sun.
There's really no reason for you to get madder if I don't have the time for idle chatter.
You're lost? Need help? Well, do your best.
That's why we all have GPS.
You're suffering from a loneliness attack?
Well listen, there's got to be an app for that.
Self-absorbed? Yeah, sure, you can see right through us.
You want friendly? Then move to St. Louis.
I'm sorry, but time is not on my side.
I am perpetually preoccupied.
The world spins so fast a guy can get dizzy.
It's not that I'm snobby. I'm just kinda busy.
