2 Injured After Car Hits Bus Stop In Lynn
LYNN (CBS) -- Two people were hit by a Hyundai Accent sedan while standing near a bus stop in Lynn Tuesday. The crash occurred near the Walmart on the Lynnway at Harding Street around noon.
The Lynn Fire Department said a 54-year-old woman was med-flighted with life-threatening leg and pelvic injuries after she was pinned underneath the car. A man was also seriously injured and taken to Salem Hospital.
A 32-year-old Lynn man was behind the wheel, according to the fire department. He has not been identified.
"I tried to help because I saw a lady on the ground underneath the car, the people waiting for the bus here hurt their legs and their arms," said Milton DaSilva, who was on his way home from work when he was hit from behind. "The guy was coming fast behind me I tried to stop at the light and he hit me in the back and hit somebody waiting for the bus."
Surveillance video shows how people got out of their cars and rushed to help.
"It was a lot worse than we thought, even though the original call was for a woman pinned under the vehicle, we didn't know there was multiple victims," said Lynn Fire Captain Joseph Zukas.
The driver who lost control was taken to Mass General Hospital for evaluation and treatment of minor injuries.
