Cambridge Police Officer Allegedly Involved In Fight Outside Revere Restaurant

CAMBRIDGE (CBS) – A Cambridge Police officer is off the job after he was accused of being part of a brawl outside a Revere restaurant.

It was just after closing time at the Volare and workers were cleaning up when one ventured into a private alley out back and discovered several men urinating on the restaurant wall.

He told them to stop, and they allegedly punched and kicked him until he collapsed.

"He had a fractured nose," a Volare worker said.

Investigators now say one of the suspects was 25-year-old Jonathan Vicente, an off duty Cambridge police officer who jumped in a car but only made it to his mother's apartment 50 yards away.

The commotion with responding officers was loud and woke up most everyone in the building.

"The discussion was very loud, inappropriate discussion, for the kids to hear," said neighbor Loubna Bellammari.

Vicente was charged with disorderly conduct and after just a year on the force, finds himself on unpaid leave.

His mom, who wouldn't open her door for WBZ-TV, hints there is more to the story.

Back at the restaurant, they're just happy that their comrade will be returning to work soon. They deflected all questions about the officer now charged.
