MIT Fraternity House Hit By Gunfire
CAMBRIDGE (CBS/AP) — Massachusetts Institute of Technology students shared their concerns Tuesday after a fraternity house was one of several locations on Memorial Drive struck by gunfire.
Authorities believe the shots were fired in the area around 1 a.m., hitting a window and shutter at the Phi Beta Epsilon fraternity house. State Police later determined two windows, a tree, and an SUV parked along that stretch of the campus were also hit. No injuries have been reported. The fraternity declined comment.
"The first couple of days on campus, definitely that's something to be concerned about," said Habeeb Salau, a freshman.
"It's just like pretty shocking because MIT is a very safe campus," said Mark Mockett, a senior.
"It's a little bit scary, I guess, because there's so many dorms here, there's usually people around at all hours of the night," said Enuma Mokel, a sophomore.
A Massachusetts State Police spokesman said officials are investigating.
