Cam Neely On Felger & Mazz: Bruins Feeling Confident About Adding Carl Soderberg
Boston Bruins President Cam Neely joined Massarotti and Bertrand to talk some Boston Bruins, the injuries they are dealing with, and the trade market at the approaching deadline.
Mazz and Bertrand also asked Neely about the team's feeling toward potentially adding Carl Soderberg once his postseason ends in Sweden.
"I'm probably more confident than I've ever been with Soderberg," Neely said. "But having said that, it doesn't mean it's going to come to fruition. But at least the conversations that Peter [Chiarelli] has been having with his agent, it appears as though we're as close as we've been to having him come over here."
Neely noted that the two sides would still have to negotiate a contract, and shortly after Neely's interview ended, Soderberg's team took a 3-1 series lead with an overtime win in Game 4.
"But at least the conversations have been positive," Neely said.
With the trade deadline approaching in early April, Neely also offered his opinion on what moves he'd like to see the Bruins make.
"I think that if we were looking at possibly one thing, it would probably be adding something to the forward group," Neely said. "But we understand that there could be some limitations there. As I've said many times, we're constantly looking at how do we upgrade our team and how do we give ourselves the best chance to win. We're going to continue to do that. Obviously, things will play themselves out if Soderberg comes or doesn't come. That may or may not change how we think as well."
