Bye Bye Rain....Fine Fall Weather For The Weekend
A widespread 1.5-2.5" of rainfall in the past 24 hours. 2.2" being reported from Ipswich, to Concord to N. Weymouth, to Marion. Showers have quickly exited this morning, but a fine mist remains at the coast with cool NE winds on the cooler side of a warm front. This front remains stalled across the Cape Cod Canal where temps are in the 60's to near 70 along the south coast. A weak low and occluded front will be pushing through the rest of the morning. As Clouds begin to break with late morning with increasing sunshine, The sun will allow this front to quickly advance northward this afternoon with warmer air surging behind it with gusty winds out of the SSW. This low brought tropical rains, now it will bring in tropical warm air behind it with highs climbing into the Lwr 70's across eastern MA for the afternoon hours with mostly sunny skies. This should turn into quite a balmy & beautiful afternoon. Winds will be gusting to 30 to 40 mph for many south facing coast lines. Surf remains rough at the beaches with seas 5-10 feet off the coast.
An upper level low over the Ohio Valley and trough along the east coast will begin to lift out today through tonight . It will be close enough tonight that a few clouds may spread back in during the evening hours. The low lifts out, but a mid level trough will still be west of us Saturday. The cooler air aloft will provide enough instability for cumulus development for central and western New England Saturday...Brighter skies towards the coast with Highs in the Lwr 60's. The trough will lift out in full Sunday will a ridge developing at the east coast with building high pressure at the surface. Bright Sunshine Sunday with highs near 60.
The extended forecast gets a bit more tricky for the timing, but no major weather is expected. A weak front Late Monday may give a few clouds or a shower. Another low...like and Alberta Clipper ...will slide through Wednesday and will give another shower threat. Seasonal air in the Upper 50's and Lwr 60's through this time. Behind this low, Building high pressure and increasing sun for the end of next week with cool NW winds out of Canada will direct a significant cold shot into the Northeast to end the last week of October.
