Business Headlines: What Is Gaggle AMP?; Sun Life Layoffs
BOSTON (CBS) - A Cambridge-based social media tool called Gaggle AMP says an average of 300 people per minute are using their service.
Users can distribute social media posts across their networks, and since the beta version came out in October, 12.5 million people have received messages through its service.
Gaggle AMP earns money by charging users to create the gaggles and it has funding from investors in New York and Boston.
SUN LIFE LAYOFFS
Sun Life Financial has just announced it will reduce its staff by about 800 employees, mostly in the U.S.
Its headquarters are in Wellesley, but it's not clear how many of those cuts will come from the headquarters.
Some of those cuts will be achieved by attrition.
Sun Life will stop selling individual life insurance and variable annuities in the U.S. market.
GAS PRICES DOWN
And gas prices are down another penny in Massachusetts.
According to AAA Southern New England, an average gallon of regular self-serve is down to $3.27.
It's the fourth straight week prices have dipped.
