Burlington Bank Robbery Prompts School Lockdowns
BURLINGTON (CBS) - Two schools in Burlington were placed in lockdown on Wednesday for a few hours while police investigated a bank robbery nearby.
Police lifted the lockdowns at The Pine Glen Elementary and Fox Hill Elementary schools shortly after noontime. The schools, which are located near the bank, were put into lockdown as a precaution.
Central Bank on Wilmington Road was robbed at around 9:30 a.m. when a black or Hispanic male passed a note to a teller demanding money. No weapon was shown although one was implied.
The suspect then fled on foot with an unspecified amount of money. A number of police units, including the State Police Air Wing and a canine units were on the scene.
