NORTH ATTLEBORO - The search for a wandering bull on the loose stretched into Monday afternoon in North Attleboro, Massachusetts, a day after eight bulls escaped from a rodeo.

Bulls escape Emerald Square Mall rodeo

According to the North Attleboro fire department, the bulls were in a rodeo at the Emerald Square Mall on Route 1 when they ran off just around 12:30 p.m. Sunday. The mall is also near Route 295.

In videos posted online, the bulls were seen galloping towards a chain link fence gate when one charged through it and the rest of the pack followed, running off through the parking lot.

"It was crazy"

Kyle Massey was leaving the mall with his 10-year-old daughter and was stopped at a traffic light.

"I looked over to my right and I'd seen 6, 7 bulls or something like that, and I thought they were just walking around the parking lot with the people (from the rodeo)," he told WBZ-TV.

"Then I noticed they were getting closer, so I told my daughter, 'I think they're on the loose,' although I still didn't really believe it, because it's kind of unbelievable. So I started recording."

"They ran across the street and dodged all of those cars, went into the parking lot and then they ended up going into the woods," Massey said. "Cops were going after them. All the people that were running the show, they ran across the street. It was crazy."

Bulls captured 3 miles away

One bull was caught shortly after escaping. Six others were found stuck behind a fence outside a home about three miles away on Prescott Street in Attleboro around 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

Chris Mooney brought his kids and dogs inside when the bulls showed up on his street.

"We thought we saw like a horse outside, of some sort, and then we came outside and we just saw six bulls coming right down the road," he told reporters.

One bull still loose

One bull was still on the loose Monday afternoon in the Allen Avenue area of North Attleboro, the fire department said.

"Community members should exercise extreme caution and not approach the bull if found. If found, community members should call 9-1-1," the department said in a statement.

Rodeo workers were getting help from the Massachusetts State Police Air Wing in the search.

Earlier on Monday, Attleboro Police said the last sighting of the bull was around 6 a.m. on Old Post Road in North Attleboro.

"If we have a sighting in Attleboro we will respond to it, but hopefully it stays in North Attleboro," Attleboro Police Chief Kyle Heagney told WBZ-TV.

No one was hurt in the escape. The fire department said the rodeo was a one day event and it is now under investigation.
