Builders Help Swampscott Family After Contractor Walks Off The Job
SWAMPSCOTT (CBS) - An army of builders is making life a whole lot easier for a North Shore teenager with Cerebral Palsy.
Sam Paster, 16, is confined to a wheelchair, and when his parents tried to renovate the house the first time, the contractor walked off the job with the family's money.
Some local builders heard their story they are now finishing work on the Swampscott home for free.
Sam was surprised to see the work when he got home from school on Friday. "This is truly incredible," the 16-year-old thought as he got off the bus.
Brait Builders is among those donating time and material to help the family in need. "We met Sam who needed accessibility to his home, and just right away he captured our hearts," said contractor Michael Brait.
Sam's mom and dad saved for years for the project, but about three months ago, the previous contractor walked off the job, leaving the Paster family in a bind.
"Eighty percent of the job done and walked off, and walked off with our money," said Hilory Paster, Sam's mom. "We were left saying, what are we going to do, how are we going to do this, what is going to happen."
That's when the Braits stepped in. Now the project will be even better, with state of the art equipment inside and out.
