Buffalo's John Scott Suspended Indefinitely For Hit On Bruins' Eriksson
BOSTON (CBS) - Buffalo Sabres winger John Scott has been suspended indefinitely for his blind-side hit on Bruins forward Loius Eriksson on Wednesday night, according to SportsNet Canada.
Scott will have an in-person hearing about his suspension, which will likely exceed five games. That hearing has yet to be scheduled.
Scott knocked Eriksson out Boston's 5-2 win late in the third period with a blind-side elbow to the jaw. The hit came well after Eriksson had passed the puck, and Scott was given a five-minute major for charging.
Eriksson spent Wednesday night in a Buffalo hospital as his team traveled back to Boston. TSN's Darren Dreger reported that the Bruins forward is experiencing concussion-like symptoms, but is expected to return to Boston on Thursday.
Scott practiced with the Sabres Thursday morning, and said he texted an apology to Eriksson on Wednesday night.
"I kind of feel really upset," Scott said on Thursday. "I was sick to my stomach last night knowing what happened. And watching the video, I kind of regret the whole situation."
