Brush Fire Danger Remains Amid Continued Dry Spell
LEOMINSTER, Mass. (AP) — The warm, dry weather is great news for New Englanders residents enjoying outdoor activities on Memorial Day weekend, but it's causing heightened concerns about fire conditions in the region.
The National Weather Service says an elevated fire risk remains in effect Sunday in parts of Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut.

Forecasters note there has been a significant lack of rainfall over the past several weeks. Low humidity and southwest winds gusting to 20 to 25 mph are also contributing to the risk of brush fires. The risk is lower along the south coast of Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
Firefighters battled several large brush fires in the region on Saturday, including one that charred more than 35 acres behind the Fall Brook Reservoir in Leominster.
No injuries were reported and no structures were burned.
