Bruins To Visit Newtown, Honor Sandy Hook Vice Principal
BOSTON (CBS) -- The Boston Bruins announced Friday that members of the team will visit Newtown, Conn., on Monday to sign autographs, take pictures and spend time with families.
Andrew Ference, Rich Peverley, Dougie Hamilton, Adam McQuaid, Daniel Paille, Chris Bourque, Aaron Johnson and head coach Claude Julien will be among the group that travels to Newtown on Feb. 18 at 4:30 p.m.
Members of the Bruins staff will be giving out framed, team-autographed jerseys to Newtown first responders, and according to the team release, "the Stanley Cup is expected to make an appearance." The event is open only to registered, invited guests.
Bruins alumni Bob Sweeney and Tommy Songin will also conduct street hockey clinics, while the Bruins Youth Hockey Development team will host a clinic with the Newtown High School varsity hockey team.
The Bruins will also honor Sandy Hook Elementary School vice principal Natalie Green Hammond at the TD Garden on March 3 at a home game against the Montreal Canadiens. Hammond will drop the ceremonial first puck that night.
