Bruins Sign Michigan State Defenseman Torey Krug
BOSTON (CBS) - The Bruins have signed college free agent defenseman Torey Krug to an entry-level contract, the team announced Sunday.
Krug, 20, will report to the Bruins and can play in any remaining regular season games. He is not eligible for the postseason.
Krug just finished his junior season at Michigan State University and was a Hobey Baker Award Finalist.
"He's a two-time captain of Michigan State, was a lone captain as a sophomore. The kid's got tremendous character. He's not a big player, but he's got a lot of heart," Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli said of Krug. "He's a really good skater, has a very good head on his shoulders, sees the game very well and he passes the puck well. He's a mature player."
In 114 career CCHA games at Michigan State, Krug finished with 26 goals and 57 assists (83 points).
