Bruins Season Ticket Holders, Proud Parents Root For Schneider & Canucks
BOSTON (CBS) - A couple of longtime Bruins season ticket holders have found themselves in an awkward position during the Stanley Cup Finals. They're rooting for Vancouver.
It may seem strange, but as much time as Rich and Sue Schneider have spent rooting for the Bruins, they've spent even more time cheering on their son, Boston College graduate and Canucks back-up goalie, Cory Schneider.
From the early morning practices to college hockey to the NHL draft, Rich and Sue have had reason to cheer the whole way.
The Schneiders Talk About Their Dilemma
Wednesday night at the Garden, Vancouver pulled goalie Roberto Luongo in the third period, replacing him with the Swampscott native.
Scheiders Talk About Corey Playing In Game 4
"The irony is we've been waiting for the Bruins to make it to the Stanley Cup Finals just like everyone else," said Cory's dad. "And then lo and behold, who do they run into in the finals?"
Luongo was expected to return to goaltending duty for game 5, sending Schneider back to the bench as his back-up.
But no doubt, no matter what the outcome of the series, watching their son stop every shot he faced in game 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals will forever be a proud moment for the Schneiders.
