Bruins Recall Ryan Spooner From Providence
BOSTON (CBS) - Though David Krejci's injury doesn't sound as serious as originally feared, the Boston Bruins are making sure they have enough depth at the center position.
With Krejci day-to-day after taking a slap shot off the knee in Sunday's loss in Pittsburgh, the Bruins have recalled Ryan Spooner from Providence.
The 21-year-old Spooner had 12 goals and 33 assists in 50 games for the Providence Bruins of the AHL this season. Drafted by the Bruins in the second round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, Spooner had three goals and four assists in eight games for Providence prior to this season.
Power Rankings: Bruins Fall Back To #4
The 5-10, 175-lbs Spooner will give Boston another center on their roster should Krejci missed extended time. The Bruins are already without third-line center Chris Kelly, who is out indefinitely with a broken tibia.
Boston resumes its road trip Tuesday night in Winnipeg against the Jets.
