Bruins' Patrice Bergeron Wins 2015 Selke Trophy
BOSTON (CBS) – For the second year in a row, Boston Bruins forward Patrice Bergeron has been named the winner of the Frank J. Selke Trophy.
The Selke Trophy is awarded annually "to the forward who best excels in the defensive aspects of the game".
This marks Bergeron's third overall and second consecutive win for the Selke Trophy, which he had won twice previously in both 2012 and 2014. He beat Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews and Los Angeles Kings forward Anze Kopitar in the voting.
Bergeron finished the 2014-15 regular season with a league best 60.2 faceoff percentage, marking the second time in three seasons he's finished atop the league.
Bergeron has now completed back-to-back seasons leading the league in total faceoff wins with this year's 1,175 and last year's 1,015.
This season, Bergeron led the Bruins with 55 points, including 23 goals, and 32 assists.
