Bruins Paille Suspended Four Games
BOSTON (CBS/AP) - Bruins forward Daniel Paille has been suspended four games by the NHL for his blind-side hit to the head on Dallas' Rawand Sawada, the team announced Friday.
The hit came in the second period of Thursday night's 6-3 win over the Stars as Sawada brought the puck into the Bruins zone. Paille was given a match penalty and was ejected from the game. He is expected to speak after practice Friday afternoon.
"It's a bad hit right?" Bruins defenseman Andrew Ference said after the game. "That's what they're trying to get rid of and you can't be hypocritical about it when it happens to you and say it's fine when your teammate does it."
General Manager Peter Chiarelli joined 98.5 The Sports Hub's Toucher and Rich Friday morning, and said he would not disagree with a league suspension for the hit.
"I wouldn't be upset, I mean Andrew is right, " Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli. "You can't be hypocritical about it."
The NHL said Friday that Paille would lose $23,118 in salary. He will miss the Bruins' games with San Jose and Montreal and home and away games against Detroit. He will be eligible to return February 15th against Toronto.
