Bruins' Marchand Officially Out Against Canadiens
BOSTON (CBS) - The Boston Bruins will be without forward Brad Marchand for Wednesday's matchup with the Canadiens in Montreal.
Marchand, who suffered a shoulder injury late in the second period Saturday against the Toronto Maple Leafs, traveled with the team and was expected to be a game-time decision against the Habs. But head coach Claude Julien told reporters Marchand is officially out following the team's morning skate, though the forward is doing better and his return is only "a matter of days."
Gregory Campbell took Marchand's spot next to Patrice Bergeron and Tyler Seguin on the team's second line during the morning skate. Taking Campbell's spot on the team's fourth line was rookie Ryan Spooner, along Lane MacDermind and Jamie Tardiff.
Marchand currently leads the Bruins with five goals in the team's first eight games.
While Marchand did make the trip with the team, forwards Shawn Thornton and Daniel Paille remained in Boston due to injury.
Not having Marchand will make it tough for Boston, but will likely be even more disappointing for Montreal fans, who lose an opportunity to share their usually-hostile feelings towards the B's forward.
