Bruins Kampfer To Undergo MRI On Injured Knee
BOSTON (CBS) – Boston Bruins defenseman Steve Kampfer will undergo an MRI on Friday after suffering a knee injury in Thursday night's preseason game against the Ottawa Senators.
Kampfer injured his left knee after a hit by Ottawa's Jared Cowen in the third quarter of the 2-1 Bruins loss.
Kampfer is in a battle for the Bruins seventh defenseman spot with Matt Bartowski. Although the knee injury will likely slow him down, it does not necessarily end the competition for the roster spot, according to B's coach Claude Julien.

"I don't know if it settles it," said Julien. "We'll find out tomorrow how severe it is and is he going to be two months or is he only going to be a few weeks? And if he is then it can still be a battle going on there."
Julien said both defenseman played well on Thursday.
"I mean, they're both pretty good," Julien said after the game. "I thought Kampfer was having a real good night and skating and moving the puck and Bart is still there. There's some things that I think he has to continue to work on and he's got good size, he's a solid skater, but you know, every once in a while he gets caught with maybe not moving the puck quick enough and those are just little things that he has to continue to work on. But having said that I like both their games."

Kampfer played in 38 games for the Bruins during the 2010-11 season, tallying five goals and five assists. He played most of the season in Providence, where he suffered a right knee injury.
