Bruins Host Rival Canadiens

BOSTON (CBS) - The Bruins will try to get back on the winning track against the Montreal Canadiens Wednesday night when their fiercest rival comes to Boston.

Despite the 0-3 record against Montreal, Boston still holds a two point edge in the Northeast Division.

"They've certainly given us some tough games"  Coach Claude Julian said at practice Tuesday. "They're a team that really plays well defensively. Their goaltender has been good and they're D-zone, they really smother you. They sit back and really make it hard for you to get scoring opportunities, but their also a team the minute you give them a little space to score they've got enough skill to do that."

Montreal has won five straight against Boston, and eight of the last nine matchups.

The Bruins are now looking for everyone to step up their game with Marc Savard out for the rest of the season. Some of that weight will fall on the shoulders of David Krejci, who despite leading the team with 28 assists, is having a down year production-wise.

David Krejci and Claude Julian Talk About Stepping Up In Savard's Absence

"I like to have pressure, it's my kind of game" Krejci said. "I don't want to be the guy in the background just chipping in once in awhile, I want pressure. I'm sure I can handle it, and if I can't I'm sure the media and everybody will let me know."

"He's done it numerous times in the past," Julian said of Krejci stepping up his game. "His first year when Bergeron went down, and when Savard went down, he's become a real good player. I think he thrives on being relied upon."

Krejci has only scored seven goals this season, but has five assists in the last six games. He has been held without a point in two games against Montreal this season.

Wednesday Night's Canadiens-Bruins game can be heard on 98.5 The Sports Hub with pre-game coverage starting at 6:30p.m.
