Bruins Hand Out Team Awards

BOSTON (CBS) -The Boston Bruins handed out some hardware before their 3-2 win over the New York Islanders Wednesday night.

The team presented their 2011 team awards: the Eddie Shore Award (exceptional hustle and determination chosen by the "Gallery Gods"), Elizabeth Dufresne Trophy (outstanding performance during home games, voted by Boston media), John P. Bucyk Award (greatest off-ice charitable contributions, chosen by John Bucyk) and Bruins Three Stars Award (top performers at home over the course of the season, chosen by 98.5 The Sports Hub).

Shawn Thornton won the Eddie Shore Award for his best season in the NHL. Thornton has set career highs in goals (10), points (19) and was recently named the Bruins' nominee for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy, given to the NHL player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey.
