Bruins' Defenseman Dougie Hamilton Out Indefinitely
BOSTON (CBS) -- Already in the midst of a five-game losing streak, the Boston Bruins received some more bad news on Tuesday.
Boston will be without one of their best blue liners for the foreseeable future, with defenseman Dougie Hamilton out indefinitely with an upper-body injury.
Head coach Claude Julien wouldn't say much about Hamilton's injury, just that he will be re-evaluated in the next few days.
Hamilton suffered the apparent injury during Boston's 2-1 shootout loss to the Florida Panthers on Saturday night. He left the game in the second period and attempted to return, but only played briefly before leaving the ice for good.
Losing Hamilton certainly won't help as the Bruins continue their battle for a playoff spot. Boston is currently ninth in the Eastern Conference, a point behind the Ottawa Senators for the final Wild Card spot.
"This is what we've had to do all year; step up with a number of injuries. We just have to keep doing it," said Julien.
Hamilton had played in all 72 games for Boston this season, scoring 10 goals while recording 32 assists.
