Bruins Concerned For Families' Safety In Sochi
BOSTON (CBS) - Five Boston Bruins will be playing in the Winter Olympics in Sochi, and their head coach will be on the bench for Team Canada, but none of them want their families making the trip.
With terror threats against the Olympics seemingly growing by the hour and officials currently searching for possible suicide bombers, many NHL players and other athletes have told their families to stay home.
Patrice Bergeron, who will represent Team Canada, told his wife to stay home. Head coach Claude Julien told his family the same, though his wife may still make the trip.
"That's still up for debate," Julien said of his wife making the trip.

But for some, telling their family to stay home and having them listen is easier said than done.
"I told my family not to go, but my mom wants to go so I can't stop her," Bruins center David Krejci said on Thursday. "I would prefer if she wouldn't go, and I understand everybody that doesn't want their families to go. It's kind of a scary situation. I'm pretty sure the Russian President (Vladimir Putin) is going to take care of everything, and make the Olympic Games safe."
"We'll see what happens," said Krejci. "I've been reading the papers and watching the TV. I know there's been a lot of talk about it, and I know they've sent a lot of military people over there. It's going to be interesting. You kind of don't know what you're getting into, but I'm pretty sure they'll do everything they can to make it safe."

Krejci, who will play for the Czech Republic, isn't sure if the added military presence in Sochi will be a distraction from the Olympic games.
"If once you get there and all you see is military people everywhere, it's going to be tough to focus [on hockey]," he said. "But I'm pretty sure it's going to be fine. All the athletes will be at the village so I'm pretty sure it's going to be fine."
In addition to Bergeron and Krejci, Zdeno Chara (Slovakia), Loui Eriksson (Sweden) and Tuukka Rask (Finland) will play in the Winter Olympics. Chara will hold the flag for Slovakia at the Opening Ceremonies, which kick off the Olympics on February 7.
