Bruins Coach Doug Houda Takes Puck To Head, Returns To Bench After Getting Stitches
BOSTON (CBS) -- We know hockey players are among the toughest athletes in the world, but how about their coaches?
It turns out they're just as tough as the players.
Bruins assistant coach Doug Houda was struck by a puck while on the team's bench in the second period Wednesday night in Detroit, but wasn't away from his post long. He calmly put a towel on the cut and retreated to the locker room to get stitched up, and was back on the bench just a few minutes later.
Houda's toughness should come as no surprise, given his 18-year NHL career as a defenseman. He has served as an assistant for the Bruins since 2006.
