Bruins Bergeron Hit On Chin At Practice

BOSTON (CBS) - The Bruins were already short at the center position with Marc Savard being placed on the Long-Term Injured-Reserve on Monday.

Now Patrice Bergeron can be added to the list of wounded Bruins.

Bergeron was hit on the chin by a puck at the team's practice Tuesday morning, according to WBZ TV's Dan Roche. The Bruins center was rushed to the hospital to receive stitches. Team officials say Bergeron is okay and expected to play Wednesday night when the Bruins host the Canadiens.

Bruins Coach Claude Julian Talks About Bergeron's Injury

Bergeron has been the Bruins most efficient player this season (aside from goaltender Tim Thomas) with a team-high 44 points in 53 games. Bergeron is second on the team with 19 goals and 25 assists.

Bergeron was named the NHL's "First Star" for the month of January.
