Bruins Back In Boston With Stanley Cup
BOSTON (CBS/AP) -- The Stanley Cup is back in Boston with the Bruins for the first time in 39 years.
The team plane landed at Logan Airport at about 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, less than 12 hours after they beat the Canucks in Vancouver 4-0 in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals for their first title since 1972.
The players, many wearing white championship hats and still sporting their playoff beards, made their way off the jet one by one, with captain Zdeno Chara last off holding the silver cup high over his head.
WBZ-TV's Karen Anderson was there when the Bruins returned with the Cup:
"It's awesome. It's an amazing feeling," said the Bruins captain, cup in hand. "We are so happy and thrilled."
Asked if he would get tired from holding the Cup for so long, the 6-9 Chara shrugged it off.
"(It's) 35-lbs," Chara said of the cup. "I think we are pretty ok with that weight."

"We got it done, we brought it back to Boston and this is where it belongs," said coach Claude Julien.

A few dozen fans showed up at the airport to welcome the team home.
Several fans were also at the Garden to greet the team buses, which arrived at 9:11 a.m.
"We are very thankful for the support and we can't wait for the parade," said Chara.
"We won the Stanley Cup last night but in a part of my mind I still can't believe it," said Conn Smyth winner Tim Thomas. "It's very hard to get your mind around it."
