Bruce Springsteen, E Street Band Leave Mass. With A Bang
BOSTON (CBS) - Bruce Week has ended in Massachusetts. Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band wrapped up a three night stand with another marathon show in Foxboro Saturday night. It was another monster setlist which included Growin' up, Lost In the Flood, Racing In The Street, and the second ever performance of Jungleland (the 1st in the U.S.) since the death of E Street sax man Clarence Clemons. His nephew Jake was there to do the Big Man proud however, belting the loud solo, bringing tears to many of the die-hards in the crowd.
Before fans were sent home twisting to "Twist and Shout," Bruce had one last trick up his sleeve. The Boss spotted a sign for Dobie Gray's 'Drift Away' (no kids Uncle Kracker was not the original), and the band delivered a great version, which had all of Gillette singing. At one point Bruce called out 'we are faking it' but in all actuality, they were nailing it.
The two other shows last week were at Fenway Tuesday and Wednesday. 60 different songs were played over the course of the three nights. E Street guitarist Nils Lofgren tells WBZ, he loves coming to this neck of the woods.
