Browner On Gresh & Zo: Pats Defensive Backfield 'Is Awesome'

BOSTON (CBS) -- The addition of Darrelle Revis during the offseason made all the headlines in New England, but not to be forgotten is the signing of corner Brandon Browner.

A key part to the very successful Seattle Seahawks defense over the last three years, Browner is now ready for a new challenge in New England.

"It's awesome. I'm coming from a good situation to probably a better one," said Browner. "Other than the winning situation, it was a great chance to play with guys like Darrelle Revis, Devin McCourty and Logan Ryan. This defensive backfield is awesome, so it will be a fun group to play with."

The 6-4 Browner is the biggest corner in the league, and brings even more size and physical play to the New England secondary. He said there is no timeline for when they'll put it all together on the field, but he's confident they'll mold themselves into a special group.

"You take it one day at a time, competing, and that's how you build comradery," said Browner, who has 10 career interceptions in 36 games.

Browner will have to wait until Week 5 to join the group in games that count, due to a four-game suspension by the NFL for violating the league's substance abuse policy. He said he'd be working with trainers during his time away to stay sharp, and while he's focused on being a starter when he returns, said that decision is up to coach Bill Belichick.

And despite coming from Seattle, with noted talkers like Richard Sherman, Browner is ready to soak in the Patriots' Way when it comes to the media.

"I'm not really a big talker. I didn't really like to talk to the media, not that I don't like the media, but I just like to talk football," he said. "I like that we keep talking to a minimum [in New England]."
