Brown, Warren Clash On Presence Of Ads From Outside Groups
BOSTON (AP) — The campaign of Republican U.S. Sen. Scott Brown is accusing Democrat Elizabeth Warren of hypocrisy when it comes to attack ads aired by outside groups.
During a debate with four Democratic rivals Tuesday night, Warren decried what she called "unfair attack ads," but also defended the rights of outside groups to weigh in on the race.
Brown, who has been the target of attack ads run by environmental organizations, has called for outside special interest groups to stay out of the campaign. His campaign manager, Jim Barnett, said in a statement issued after the Democratic debate that Warren was being hypocritical by denouncing the outside negative ads but not joining Brown in calling for the groups to stay clear of the race.
