Brown University Revokes Bill Cosby's Honorary Degree
PROVIDENCE, RI (CBS) – Brown University has revoked an honorary degree it awarded to Bill Cosby in 1985, The Brown Daily Herald reports.
Brown's Board of Fellows said it was taking action after 35 women have come forward accusing the comedian of assaulting them.
In a community-wide email, the university's president says Cosby's conduct with women is troubling.

"It has become clear, by his own admission in legal depositions that became public this summer, that Mr. Cosby has engaged in conduct with women that is contrary to the values of Brown and the qualities for which he was honored by the University in 1985," President Christina Paxson wrote in the email, according to The Brown Daily Herald.
In documents obtained by the Associated Press, Cosby testified in 2005 he obtained quaaludes with the intent of giving them to women before sex.
It is the first time Brown has ever withdrawn an honorary degree.
