Brothers Arrested Over Burglary Of Taunton Police Officer's S.U.V.
TAUNTON (CBS) - Two men are under arrest, accused of trying to sell about $5,000 worth of items stolen out of a Taunton police officer's S.U.V.
The S.U.V. was parked right next to a police cruiser in front of the officer's home. The officer, Sgt. Kevin Medas immediately alerted local pawn shops after realizing he had been robbed.
The move paid off. Later in the day, a man brought several of the items into MoneyTree pawnbrokers. A manager recognized they were stolen and called police.
Police arrested 22-year-old Stephen Peterson and his brother, 32-year-old Jake Macdonnell and charged both with receiving stolen property.
Medas says police managed to recover his $1,300 police-issued bullet-proof vest, a $1,400 music mixer, karaoke equipment that belongs to his son, a pool cue, a GPS unit, sports apparel, and store and bank charge cards that the thieves took.
His police hat and shield are the only two items still missing.
